A good photo of a face is all it takes - a parent, a partner, a child, a friend. It works just as well for someone who isn't in the room anymore, if there's a clear photo to work from and you'd love to have them close again.
Each piece is sculpted true to scale - adults stand about 7 inches tall, with children sized to match their age.
This one is personal - it's my own reference piece, not something available to order as-is. Custom figures are a brand new part of what I offer, so I don't have a big gallery of finished work to show yet. This is one of the first.
Most custom figure sites top out around 10 centimeters - a little under 4 inches. Mine stand about 7 inches tall, nearly double that, and still cost less than what those smaller pieces often go for. Because each one is 3D printed and hand-painted, small imperfections can show up here and there - that's part of the process, not something I hide.
Resin is also more fragile than it looks - like plaster, it can chip or crack if it's dropped or bumped. These are 3D printed, so they hold up better to actually being handled and kept close.
If there's someone who can't be there for the holidays anymore, or for any ordinary day with the people who love them, I understand how much that hurts. And when someone is gone for good, the hardest part is watching them fade a little more each year, once there's no one left who remembers their laugh. A photo lives in a book for some of us, on a phone for the rest - but holding a small version of someone in your hands is different. I'd give anything to see my own parents again, just to hear them laugh one more time. If this can hold onto even a little of that for you, it's worth making.

Because these pieces are sculpted true to life size rather than dollhouse scale, ready-made background pieces - like a fireplace or a realistic Christmas tree - don't exist to match them. So Dolce Vita designs and prints its own scene accessories - fireplaces, Christmas trees, and other backdrop pieces sized to fit a 7-inch scene - available unpainted or painted, the same as the figures themselves.
